LOTUS INITIATIVE FOR THE BLIND (LIB) is a Person With Disability led non-profit and non-governmental organization, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria. Moreover, it has ECOSOC consultative status at United Nations which enable her consult and participate in all major activities in the United Nations she also works to promote inclusion, participation, access and with a mission to mainstream the issues of persons with disabilities in various societal and institutional capacities…

Why LIB is here

To serve as the preferred Civic Society Organisation on disability and attain a society where equity, social justice and rights of Persons with Disabilities are guaranteed through specific projects, advocacy and partnership with relevant stakeholders.

Health Story


 Free Medical Outreach at Umuobiala Civic Centre Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Over 800 people were treated of various aliment and 500 Medical Glasses and Eye drops where given out in order to prevent preventable blindness.



Lotus Initiative for the blind (LIB)/National Disability Empowerment Forum (NADEF) as one of the civil society organizations approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to observe elections in Nigeria. The aim of the observation is to see how persons enduring different forms of disabilities are treated during these civic exercises since the law does not disenfranchise against differently able people. We sensitize and educate people living with disabilities on the need to participate in elections, to vote or to be voted for during elections.


Lotus Initiative for the blind is the brainchild of National Disabilities Empowerment Forum (NADEF); a Not-for-profit/non-governmental organization. It was founded in 1998 but registered in 2012 with CAC.
