About LIB
LOTUS INITIATIVE FOR THE BLIND (LIB) is a Person With Disability led non-profit and non- governmental organization, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria. Moreover, it has ECOSOC consultative status at United Nations which enable her consult and participate in all major activities in the United Nations she also works to promote inclusion, participation, access and with a mission to mainstream the issues of persons with disabilities in various societal and institutional capacities, and uses data to address inclusion and participation challenges of over 30 million PWDs in Nigeria through Advocacy, Research and Training.

VISION STATEMENT
To serve as the preferred Civic Society Organisation on disability and attain a society where equity, social justice and rights of Persons with Disabilities are guaranteed through specific projects, advocacy and partnership with relevant stakeholders.

To promote disability rights and development through advocacy and campaign, training and empowerment program, research and documentation, legal and in collaboration with state and non-state actors.

OUR JOURNEY
SCHOLARSHIPS:
Lotus Initiate for the Blind in collaboration with Exelient Africa in 2020 attracted a
scholarship for 22 indigenes of Abia State
COVID-19 RELIEF:
Lotus Initiative for the Blind in collaboration with Princess Eunice Ukwuani Foundation
distributed palliatives to the differently abled people in Federal Capital Territory and
Edo State to cushion the effect of Covid-19
SENSITIZATION SEMINAR
We invited schools from the special schools for the blind in all the municipal
councils and LGAs of the FCT

OUR TARGET:
Works to facilitate the full participation of vulnerable groups especially People With Disabilities and Women/Girls while promoting & protecting their rights.

OUR OBJECTIVES
- Capacity building programmes both on the demand and supply sides; providing technical assistance to government, civil society and institutional sector on disability mainstreaming.
- Improve access to quality education, employability, entrepreneurship and engagement development.
- Conduct research and produce reports on disability related issues.
- Emphasize the specific needs of people with disabilities in order to promote social inclusion and inclusive development.
- Advocate the mainstreaming of disability issues in gender and development programs as a human rights and development goals.
- Network and collaborate with CSOs in the design and implementation of programs that are disability friend
EMPOWERMENT
We has equally been able to empower some differently abled persons to set up small enterprises. In the areas of poultry we empowered two people (one male, one female), we also empowered three (3) persons in fishery (one male and 2 females) and so many others in petty trading.
