We cater for the needs of persons with disabilities

The Lotus Initiative for the blind is the brainchild of National Disabilities Empowerment Forum (NADEF); was setup to cater for the needs of persons with disabilities such as visually impaired/blind, physically challenged, Hearing retarded, Mental retarded, the Elderly, Albinism, motherless Children/Orphans , venerable children , and other members of our society who endure some kind of impairment. It is an organization with a broad spectrum of activities to cover for these needs and providing support, psychologically and otherwise.

Ensuring that the Rights of Persons living with disabilities

LIB have been actively involved in ensuring that the Rights of Persons living with disabilities in Nigeria, are not trampled upon in the area of training and empowerment programs, education and scholarships, conduct of elections (Election monitoring), provision of social amenities, accessibility to public buildings, provision of employment, advocacy/sensitization programs, training the trainers and conducting of seminars and conferences, etc.

Programmes for Persons living with disabilities

LIB since its inception have been partnering with United Nations, Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Ministry of Women affairs and Social Development, Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Exelient Africa, Rivers of Hope Humanitarian Initiation, Africa- Asia Youth Foundation India, Blind Relief Association New Delhi India, National Federation of the Blind USA, International Disability Alliance, and World Blind Union. These are our achievements and programmes.

Deliver measurable results

Network and collaborate with CSOs in the design and implementation of programs that are disability friendly.

Technological Support

There are a lot of innovations on how to better manage some of these disabilities like modern assertive technology such as Sara C6, Jaws Windows, computerization, screen readers motorized wheel chairs, mobility canes, braille machines, etc
